If you haven’t heard of ” Lionheart ”, it means that you’re not a good lover of Nigeria’s Nollywood movie industry, because sometimes late last year, Nollywood Queen and Filmmaker, Genevieve Nnaji‘s first directorial movie ” Lionheart ” was acquired by American movie streaming giant Netflix as part of its original content out of Nigeria.
The Nnaji’s movie ” Lionheart ” was premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. Follow-up by selected viewing at Siverbird Cinema in Lagos, despite the controversy between her and the FilmOne distribution company. But the wait is over for Nollywood movie lovers as Genevieve Nnaji‘s ” Lionheart ” is now available on Netflix.
Lionheart follows Adaeze (played by Nnaji), a competent yet perennially overlooked daughter, who is forced to work alongside her feckless uncle, Goodwill (Nkem Owoh), in order to save her father’s (Pete Edochie) ailing bus company, Lionheart.
Nigerians who have watched the movie had nothing to say, but to praise Nnaji’s directorial debut, with many praising the film’s uplifting story and Pete Edochie and Nkem Owoh‘s scene-stealing performances.
